These pictures of Stiltfishers on the South coast of Sri Lanka were taken one year before the Tsunami. The series includes pictures of the Salindra family.
Fortunately the Tsunami happened on an auspicious full moon day: no fishermen were present at the time. The people in these pictures have survived.
Their village Modaragoda was inundated, and many houses destroyed. Many foreign friends have helped with goods and money, and in January 2006 the people of the village were doing quite well.
